Alzheimer’s Disease treatment is hard to come by. Here at Francois Bend, we specialize in memory care and provide warmth and comfort for those who suffer from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. There are some new and exciting new developments in the world of Alzheimer research.
Families of those with dementia may see changes in the personality of their loved one as the disease progresses. This, combined with difficulties in performing everyday tasks, can be difficult to see, leaving many relatives feeling helpless.
Since Alzheimer’s is the fifth-leading cause of death and is the most common form of dementia. It is expected that by 2025, there will be a million patients in the US with the disease unless a cure is found.
After a string of failures in Alzheimer’s disease treatment, drug companies say they might have a medication that clears toxic amyloid proteins from the brain and significantly slows the rate of a patient’s mental decline. An experimental drug has shown positive results in human patients. In July of 2018 at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Chicago, results were released for the public.
The company showed that over 18 months on the highest dose of the drug, patients with mild cognitive impairment and early Alzheimer’s disease had big reductions of beta amyloid in their brains. So far, no other drug has ever demonstrated both the ability to clear beta amyloid and slow the progression of the disease in such a short period of time.
